How do I transfer files to/from my computer?

The information below will provide you with all the information you need to help you transfer files such as music, video and other files from your computer to your Motorola XOOM Family Edition or vice versa.

Note: A file manager application may be required to view some of the different file types being transferred.

Windows XP/Vista

1. Plug the USB cable into your Motorola XOOM Family Edition and then plug the USB cable into the PC.

2.  The first time the device is connected to the computer the PC will load up the drivers.   If you receive any dialogue boxes to install drivers, click yes to continue.  (If your device is not being recognized Click Here to visit our USB troubleshooter.)

3.  Once the drivers have been loaded.  The PC will recognize the Motorola XOOM Family Edition  device as a portable media player.  You can click on the  My Computer  icon.  Click on the Motorola XOOM Family Edition   portable media player.

4.  The device storage hard drive will display, double click on the Device Storage hard drive to view the files and folders stored on the device.

5. You can copy files and folder between your PC and Motorola XOOM Family Edition  tablet. 



Windows 7

1.  Plug the USB cable into the Motorola XOOM Family Edition  Tablet and then into the PC.

2.  When you plug in the tablet for the first time,  the PC will ask to install drivers, click ok to continue.  

Once the drivers are installed, the device will show up as a Motorola XOOM Media Player.  The Autoplay feature in Windows 7 will present the Motorola XOOM device with options. (If your device is not being recognized Click Here to visit our USB troubleshooter.).

3.  Click on the  Open Device to View Files as depicted below.

4.  Click on the  Device Storage  drive to display the folders of the Motorola XOOM Family Edition  hard drive.

5.  Click on files and  Drag & Drop  them to the Motorola XOOM Family Edition   and PC.

MAC

1.  You will need to download and install the Mac File Transfer tool at http://www.android.com/filetransfer

2.   From the applications folder click on the  Android File Transfer application.

3.  Ensure your Motorola XOOM Family Edition  device is powered up and connect it to the USB cable and then connect to the MAC PC.

The Android File Transfer tool will recognize the Motorola XOOM Family Edition  is connected and it will pop up the file folder.

4.  You can now drag and drop files to and from the Motorola XOOM Family Edition  to your Mac.

How do I transfer files using Wi-Fi?

While we do not endorse or guarantee these solutions, or provide support for them, some owners have reported success using a 3rd party Android Application like "WiFi File Explorer".

How do I open a file after I transfer them from my computer?
