How do I find out if my computer or laptop is Bluetooth Compatible?

Most newer laptops have Bluetooth hardware installed; however, older laptops or desktops most likely don't have Bluetooth compatibility.

Look for the Bluetooth Imageicon in your system tray (task bar).  If you do not see that icon, follow the steps below for your device to see if it is Bluetooth Compatible.

PC

  1. Open the Device Manager on your PC or laptop.
  2. If Bluetooth Radios is listed, you have Bluetooth enabled.  If there is a yellow exclamation icon over it, you may need to install the proper drivers.  Right-click on the item and select Update Driver Software.  Follow the prompts on your PC.
  3. If Bluetooth Radios is not listed, check the Network Adapters category.  Look for any entries that contain the word "Bluetooth."

MAC

  1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner and select About this Mac.
  2. Select More Info.  Expand the Hardware category and look for a "Bluetooth" entry.
  3. Also check System Preferences in the Apple menu.  Look under the Hardware or Internet & Wireless sections.

Do I need a Bluetooth USB dongle?

If your computer or laptop is not Bluetooth compatible, or the Bluetooth is not working properly, plug the USB Bluetooth dongle in any USB port on your computer or laptop.

The device driver should automatically install.  You can then pair your Bluetooth accessory to your computer or laptop.

For Windows 7, you can install the Motorola Bluetooth Driver.
