How to get MotoSpeak

To download and install MotoSpeak:

  1. Launch the Android Market.
  2. Search for the MyMOTOSPEAK application

Note: There is a current MotoSpeak 2.0 application available for Blackberry users.  This application
can be found though the Blackberry store.  This application is NOT expected to be replaced with the 3.0 version

Note: Blackberry users will only have access to the MotoSpeak 2.0 version located on the Blackberry store.

Items lost in MotoSpeak with version 3.0

  •  New version is not compatible with Blackberry handsets (MS 2.0 version is still on Blackberry market, and is planned to remain there).




Adding My MotoSpeak Widget

Add My MotoSpeak widget to your homescreen to quickly send messages

  1. To Add the My Motspeak widget, press an open area on your home screen and select “Widgets”.
  2. Scroll to and select My MotoSpeak
  3. The “Send Text – My MotoSpeak” widget displays




Sending Text using My MotoSpeak icon

  1. Click on the Send Text (My MotoSpeak) icon.
  2. Say the Command. For example “Hi John, I'm running late"
  3. System repeats message and asks if you want to send. 
  4. When you say “Yes”, it will say “Working” and then “Sending Message
  5. Window closes and returns to the home screen


NOTE:  The first time you access MotoSpeak to send a message, you may experience a delay depending on the size of your address book.  This is due to the system reading your entire address book.  Once you send a message you should not experience this delay until you open the application again.



Sending Text using the Call Button


When you click on the Call Button, you will receive a screen that asks you to select either My MotoSpeak or Voice Commands.  You can also select a default.

Tip:  You can change the default by going into Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and then select the default application (My MotoSpeak or Voice Commands) and then click on Clear Defaults

  1. Say the Command such as “Hi John, I'm running late"
  2. System repeats message and asks if you want to send.  When you say “Yes”, it will say “message
  3. When you say “Yes”, it will say “Working” and then “Sending Message”. 
  4. Window closes and returns to the home screen

Note: If there are multiple names the system will return a listing and ask you the individual names.
Example:  Did you mean Ed Smith?  If you say no, the system will state the next name and continue this process.

If contact is not found, it will state “No Valid Locations Stored”.  It will then open the text message and ask you to state your message.  After you have stated the message, it will ask you to address the message but then the window closed and returns you to the home screen. Motorola is aware of this and is currently working on an fix to this issue



Receiving and Replying to Texts with My MotoSpeak 


You are notified when you receive a new text message
Note:  You only have a couple of seconds to  respond.

  • Click on Yes – message is read to you 
  • System asks if you want to reply?
    • Yes, the Speak now command opens and walks you through the same process as sending a new message.
    • No, window closes and returns you to the home screen




My MotoSpeak Menu and Settings


While the MotoSpeak application is open, press Menu > Settings

  • Language selection: English or Spanish
  • Privacy Mode – select if you would like to hear incoming texts
  • Customize Signature – default to “Sent via My MotoSpeak
  • Say a command prompt – select voice or tone
  • Auto-launch My MotoSpeak – turn on My MotoSpeak when BT device is connected to phone
  • Customized Headset Setting
    • Customized smart button
    • Headset Equalizer – adjust equalizer settings specific to  your BT device
  • Factory reset – restore headset to original settings
  • Enable caller ID – Reads out caller id – states not available on Android 2.3 or later
  • Hands free answering – Say “Answer” or “Ignore” when called.
  • Legal information – My MotoSpeak Terms & Conditions
  • Application Version – MyMotoSpeak Software Version 3.0.22
