Using Play Music - moto g6 play

How do I use the music player?


Your phone can play MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, AAC+, MIDI, and WAV files.

To get music, do any of the following:

  • Purchase it in an app, like Play Music. Then stream it or download it using that app.
  • Transfer it from your computer to your phone’s Music folder.
  • Upload it from your computer to the cloud and listen on any internet-connected device.

Listen with Play Music

  1. Open the Play Music app.
  2. Do any of the following:

    • To play music stored on your phone, on your SD card, or in the cloud, touch  > Music library.
    • To prevent streaming and listen only to music stored on your phone, touch Image and turn Downloaded only on .
    • To change the storage location for downloaded files, touch Image > Settings > Storage Location and choose Internal for device storage or External for SD card storage.
    • To learn more about features or music pricing, touch Image > Help & Feedback.

To open your music library with one touch from your home screen, add a task shortcut:

  1. Touch & hold Image.
  2. Drag My library to a blank space on your home screen.

You can listen through your phone's speaker or by pairing with a Bluetooth speaker.


Google Play Music Manager

The Google Play Music Manager is a desktop application that allows you to upload your music to the cloud and download your entire library from the cloud to your computer. Once you’ve uploaded songs to Google Play, you can listen to your music anywhere that you have internet access.

From the Google Play Music Manager, you can:

  • Upload music from your iTunes library, Windows Media Player library, My Music folder, or folders of your choosing to Google Play
  • Choose to upload songs automatically or completely manually
  • Adjust the bandwidth available for uploading songs
  • View the progress of songs you’re uploading
  • Download any of the songs that you previously uploaded to your music library, as well as any song you purchased from the Google Play store

Uploading songs to Google Play Using the Google Play Music Manager

After installing the Google Play Music Manager, you can access it by clicking the Google Play Music Manager iconImage in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen (Windows), menu bar in the upper right corner (Mac) or notifications area (Linux).

To upload songs to Google Play, click the Google Play Music Manager icon Imagein your system tray at the bottom right of your screen (Windows), menu bar in the upper right corner (Mac) or notifications area (Linux) and click 'Upload’.

If you’d like to change the location that the Google Play Music Manager uploads music from, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Google Play Music Manager icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen (Windows), menu bar in the upper right corner (Mac) or notifications area (Linux) to access the Google Play Music Manager.
  2. Select the ’Advanced’
  3. Click ’Change’ and select your preferred location.

I only want to upload specific music from my library

You can choose to only upload specific playlists from iTunes or Windows Media Player, or upload music from folders of your choosing. To do so, please follow the instructions below.

Uploading music from specific playlists:

When syncing playlists with iTunes, deleting the playlist in iTunes will also remove the playlist from your Google Play music library.

  1. Click the Google Play Music Manager icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen (Windows), menu bar in the upper right corner (Mac) or notifications area (Linux) to access the Google Play Music Manager.
  2. From the 'Upload' tab, select 'Choose by playlist.'
  3. Check the box next to the playlist(s) you'd like to upload music from.
  4. Click 'Upload.'

The ‘Choose by playlist’ option won’t appear unless you’re uploading music from Windows Media Player or iTunes. If you’d like to change the location that you’re uploading music from, select the ’Advanced’ tab in the Google Play Music Manager and click ’Change’.

Uploading music from folders of your choosing:

  1. Click the Google Play Music Manager icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen (Windows), menu bar in the upper right corner (Mac) or notifications area (Linux) to access the Google Play Music Manager.
  2. Select Advanced and then Change.
  3. Click Other folders, and select a folder from which you would like to upload music.
  4. Click Continue.

The ‘Add folder’ option won’t appear unless you’re uploading music from ’Other folders’. If you’d like to change the location that you’re uploading music from, select the ’Advanced’ tab in the Google Play Music Manager and click ’Change’.

If you attempt to upload a library containing over 20,000 songs, the Google Play Music Manager will prioritize songs based on a combination of your listening preferences and ratings.
