Using the camera on the Droid Maxx 2
To open the camera, do any of the following:
- Touch
- Twist your phone twice from any screen.
- Use your voice. From any screen, say your launch phrase and then say “Take a photo”.
- From the lock screen, swipe left.
Take a photo
- If needed, adjust settings such as flash or photo size.
- Frame your subject:
- To zoom, drag the viewfinder up and down.
- To change the focus location, drag the focus ring. (You must first turn on in camera settings.)
- To change the exposure, slide the control on the focus ring to lighten or darken the shot.
- To take the photo, do one of the following:
- Touch anywhere on the viewfinder.
- Touch & hold the viewfinder to take a rapid series of photos.
- Swipe the viewfinder right and touch for a timer.
- Swipe left to review your photos and videos:
- To return to Gallery from an open image or video, touch the screen, then touch
- To view photos and videos later, open the Gallery or Photos app.
Take a selfie
- On the viewfinder, touch to switch to the front camera. Or, twist your phone twice.
- To take the photo, do one of the following:
- Touch anywhere on the viewfinder.
- Swipe the viewfinder right and touch for a timer.
Take a panoramic photo
- Swipe the viewfinder right and touch
- Frame one side of the scene.
- Touch the screen anywhere and, when prompted, slowly start panning across the scene. Keep your motion smooth and use a steady speed.
- When you reach the end of your scene, touch
Tell your phone to take a photo
If you've set up Moto Voice, you can tell your phone to take a photo:
- Say your launch phrase.
- Say one of the following:
- “Take a photo.” The back camera opens and counts down before taking a picture.
- “Take a selfie.” The back camera opens and counts down before taking a picture.
Share a photo you've just taken
- Swipe the viewfinder screen to the left, and touch the photo to share.
- Touch .
- Select the way you want to share.

Troubleshooting tips
Problems taking pictures
- Third-party cases can interfere with the camera. Try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
- Please make sure there is not a protective covering over the camera lens.
- Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Take a dry cloth and gently clean the camera lens.
- Make sure your finger is not covering or shading the camera lens while taking the photo or video.
