Charging a New Device
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the supplied battery charger into the device and into an electrical outlet. It may take several seconds to start charging the battery.
If the battery has no charge at all, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging. The battery needs to charge a bit before the system can boot up, and this may take a few moments to achieve.
Use the Motorola charger that came with the device. Device chargers can vary in energy outputs and a weak charger will take longer to charge the battery. If a device is in heavy use while charging, a weak charger can't provide enough energy to actually charge the battery at all.
Note: The Motorola Turbo charger will charge the device at a faster rate when the device is below 78%. If the device is already at 78% or higher, it will charge at regular speed.
During initial set up of the device, and once accounts have been added (Google and others), the device will transfer significant amounts of data while it synchronizes the accounts and updates applications from the Play Store. The device's battery may drain faster than usual during this initial update and sync session. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, the battery will reach its maximum capacity. We recommend keeping the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.
Typical Battery Charging
When the device is on and charging, the battery icon in the top notification bar will show the charging indicator, , which looks like a lightning bolt inside the battery.
When the device is powered off, the charging indicator will appear in the middle of the screen and look like the outline of a battery. Press the power button briefly to activate the screen.
Charge the device each night.
The device will give a warning when the battery is low, first when the charge remaining falls below 15% of its capacity, and again when it falls below 5%. When these warnings appear, charge the device as soon as you can and/or stop using applications that can wait for a later time. For example, switch to airplane mode to stop all radio transmissions or stop apps that use a lot of energy (such as navigation or streaming apps).
