Automatic SIM selection - Moto G 1st Generation
What is Automatic SIM selection?
Automatic SIM selection is a software solution to simplify calling on Moto phones with dual SIMs. If you typically select the SIM for every outgoing call, this new feature will learn from pattern of use and suggest or even automatically select your preferred SIM.
How do I use this feature?
You can enable this feature in Apps > Settings > Dual SIM settings > Call settings > Automatic SIM selection.
Is this feature useful if I am using SIM 1 or SIM 2 to make all calls?
No. The Automatic SIM selection feature is not used if Dual SIM settings > Call settings > Making Calls is set to Always use SIM 1 or Always use SIM 2.
The Automatic SIM selection feature is useful when you select a SIM for each outgoing call: Dual SIM settings > Call settings > Making Calls > select Ask every time I make a call.
How do I use a different SIM when Automatic SIM selection is enabled?
When this feature is enabled, the phone will learn from pattern of use and automatically select the preferred SIM when calling a specific contact. If you need to choose a different SIM from the one automatically selected, there are two options:
- Change SIM - While the call is being placed, the phone application will indicate which SIM is used for calling, and give you an option to select Change SIM.
- Disable Automatic SIM selection feature from Apps > Settings > Dual SIM settings > Call settings > Automatic SIM selection.
Is Automatic SIM selection useful while the feature is disabled?
Yes, Automatic SIM selection will suggest the preferred SIM based on call history.
How is this different than selecting “Remember SIM for number”?
Automatic SIM selection suggests or even automates the SIM selection based on your calling history. It does not require manually checking “Remember SIM for number” for every number stored in your People application.
Does this only work on the Moto G?
Yes, this application works only on the Moto G Dual SIM phone which has two SIMs inserted in it.
