Using an SD card on the moto g7 optimo maxx
Whether its images, music, videos or applications we know that the most important stuff on people's phones is stored in the user memory. The motorola one allows you to expand your memory by using a micro SD card.
To insert a memory card:
- Insert the tool into the hole in the tray and gently push to pop it out.
- Insert or remove the cards as needed.
To use an SD card:
To use two SIM cards (dual-SIM models only):
- Push the tray back into the phone.
We recommend use of a high speed card , such as a UHS-1 type. Class 4 and Class 2 micro SD cards are not recommended. The performance of these cards is typically 10x slower than internal storage performance.
High speed card are identified by these logos:
If your card it too slow, your device will warn your during the adoption process. If you encounter this dialog, we advise to upgrade your card to a UHS-1 card first.
When you insert an SD card for the first time, you can choose to either use the card as Portable Storage or Internal Storage.

Only pictures and media can be stored on the card.
Downloaded applications, their data, is always internal. they can not be moved to the card.
The card is readable by other devices. (another phone, Mac, PC, digital camera)

The card is always encrypted, and can not be decrypted on any other device.
The card will be formatted when internal storage is selected.
Manage SD card
You can move media from internal phone storage to your SD card, easily remove the card to transfer content to other devices, view the storage space available, and erase all content to start fresh.
Move media from phone to SD card
To free up internal storage on your phone
Be sure you've inserted and set up your SD card.
- Open the Files app.
- Touch and select your phone.
- Navigate to and select one or more files or folders to move.
- Touch > Move to.
- Touch and select your SD card.
- Touch Move.
Tip:You can set the camera to store all new photos and videos on the SD card.
Remove SD card
Drag the SD card notification down, and touch Eject.
If you don't see the notification:
Go to Settings > Storage.
Next to your SD card name, touch .
It's now safe to remove the card from the phone.
To insert the card into another device (computer, projector, etc.), you may need the adapter that came with your card. See device manufacturer's instructions for the type of adapter required and insertion instructions.
Erase SD card
Go to Settings > Storage
Select your SD card
Touch > Storage settings > Format
