Nexus devices receive the latest version of Android directly from Google. Once an update is available, it can take up to two weeks for it to reach your device. Based on your carrier, it may take longer than two weeks after release to get an update.
Nexus devices may not receive the latest version of Android if they fall outside of the update window, which is usually around 18 months after a device has been released.
To check for available updates:
- Touch
- Touch Settings
- Touch About phone
- Touch System updates
If an update is available, follow the instructions on your phone to download and install it. Once updated, your phone will restart to complete the installation.
To find the software version on your phone:
- From your phone’s home screen, touch the
, then touch Settings
- Scroll down and touch About phone
- Find your phone’s software version
