Using fingerprint security on the motorola one

Use the fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone, make fast and secure online purchases, and sign into finance apps.

Set up fingerprint security

  1. Set up a backup screen lock (pattern, PIN, or password).
  2. Touch Settings > Security > Fingerprint.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to scan your fingerprint using the sensor on your phone.

Fingerprints are stored securely on the phone.

Tips:

  • Scan your fingers when they are clean and dry
  • Cover as much surface of your finger as possible during the scanning process, including edges
  • If using a screen protector, ensure it is a recommended protector.

Add more fingerprints

You can add fingerprints for other fingers you might use or for other users.

  1. Touch Settings > Security
  2. Touch Fingerprint and enter your pattern, PIN, or password to verify your identity
  3. Touch Add fingerprint
  4. Use the fingerprint sensor to scan another fingerprint
  5. Rename each fingerprint. Touch the current name, enter a new name, and touch OK.

To wake and unlock your screen, or any time you see Image on the screen, touch your finger to the sensor to verify your identity.

After you touch Image, you'll also need to enter your pattern, PIN, or password if:

  • More than 72 hours have passed since you have unlocked the phone.
  • After 5 unsuccessful read attempts.
  • You’re accessing Settings > Security > Fingerprint
  • The sensor can’t read the fingerprint.

Remove a fingerprint

  1. Touch Settings > Security
  2. Touch Fingerprint, and enter your pattern, PIN, or password.
  3. Touch  next to the fingerprint
