Why am I receiving an error when trying to check for device update?

If you are using MotoCast USB and receive the error below when selecting “Check for Device Update” try the solution below:

1. The device update server may be temporarily down. Please try again at a later time.

2. You may have a missing, misplaced, or corrupted file. To correct this please download the MSXML 4.0 Service Pack at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15697

Please note:

There are three different download files listed on this Microsoft site.  

For this issue, you only need to download and install the first item on this site: msxml.msi

You do not need:

          MSXML4 SP3 RTM Release Note.htm

          msxmlcab.exe?

Once downloaded the msxml.msi file, Windows will prompt you to install like most Windows application. Depending on the PC, you may be prompted to “Install” or “Repair”.  Either choice will fix the problem.
