Is my motorola phone hearing aid compatible?

To help get a clear sound when using a hearing aid or cochlear implant, most motorola phones have been rated for use with hearing aids.

Use hearing aids


To improve compatibility with hearing aids and reduce sound feedback:

  1. Touch Image
  2. Touch Image > Settings > Accessibility
  3. Turn Hearing aids on.
During a call, hold the phone to your ear, then rotate or move it to get the best position for speaking and listening.
 

Use real-time text (RTT) during calls

Not all carriers and countries support this feature.

Real-time text (RTT) lets you use text to communicate during a phone call. Your phone sends text as you type and the recipient can read your message while you write.

RTT:

  • Uses call minutes, just like a voice call
  • Doesn't require additional accessories

Your phone is automatically able to receive RTT calls. For outgoing calls, you can set them to begin as RTT instead of waiting for the call to connect as a voice call:

  1. Touch Image 
  2. Touch  Image  > Settings > Accessibility
  3. Touch Real Time Text (RTT) Call
  4. Touch the real-time text option and turn it on or select when you want it to appear.

To make a call with RTT:

  1. Touch Image
  2. Open a contact, enter a number on the keypad, or find an entry in Image, and touch Image 
  3. After the other person answers, enter a message in the text field.

    The text that you enter is visible to the other person as you type.
  4. During a call, you can:
    • Mute the call. RTT includes audio, so if you don't want to share your audio, touch Image  > Image
    • Add a call, or switch to voice. Touch Image to see options.
  5. To end the call, touch Image

Set up TTY device

Not all carriers support this feature.

For text-based communication, you can use text messaging and email.

If you prefer to connect to a TTY device:

  1. Touch Image 
  2. Touch Image  > Settings > Accessibility > TTY mode
  3. Select a mode:
    • TTY Full: Type and read text on your TTY device.
    • TTY HCO: Type text on your TTY and listen to voice replies on your phone.
    • TTY VCO: Speak into your phone and read text replies on your TTY.
  4. Connect your phone and TTY with the audio cord that came with your TTY. Use the USB-C adapter that came with your phone.

To view accessibility features, apps and compare devices, go to the GARI database.
  1. Select “Phones” or “Mobile Apps”
     
  2. Select “Motorola Mobility” under the Manufacturer field.
     
  3. Select “Lookup Devices” to see a list of our mobile devices or enter the model or app name.
     
  4. Select the mobile device’s picture or the “View Details” link for the device you wish to view.
